Watch Fireworks from the Water

A few select Tuesday evenings during Summer, and of course on the 4th of July, some spectacular pyrotechnic displays light up the skies of Hilton Head. Viewing fireworks from a boat is a great way to get a picture perfect vantage point. Hilton Head boating for fireworks is a decades old tradition, as boaters converge upon Broad Creek, outside of Shelter Cove. The fireworks barge sits in along the marsh of Broad Creek, and e show starts just after dusk, around 9 PM.

The easiest way to enjoy the show is by taking a Hilton Head boating fireworks cruise. Avoid the biggest crowds in Shelter Cove and enjoy an evening journey up Broad Creek. The traditional migration to head up the creek for the fireworks show starts around 8 PM from most docks, and a leisurely cruise up Broad Creek offers a great view of some of Hilton Head’s finest homes. Brahms Point, Spanish Wells, Wexford, and Long Cove Club have stunning marsh front properties, surrounded by birds and other fauna. Perhaps you have a glimpse of a dolphin, known to frequent the mouth of Broad Creek, and sometimes venturing up the creek themselves, possibly to enjoy the fireworks, too?

After fireworks, the contrast of a quiet ride back down the creek is one of the most relaxing moments you’ll find during any Hilton Head vacation. If you’re lucky, a cloudless night could offer a brilliant view of the stars. In one person’s opinion, “you haven’t lived until you’ve seen starlight reflected off waters of Hilton Head.” Wouldn’t you agree?
